Cycoloosedé says :

I have to give my music for free because nobody would pay for it anyway.

I hope that you enjoy this as I enjoyed recording it for you.
When I send this out, I hope that I can get some good reviews and good exposure, so that I will be able to get some jobs in some establishments or get some recording contracts.

They do not put it this way on the official level, but it so happens that Monsieur John Davis (one of my favorite songwriters) definitly gave up on playing music, or at least on trying to release his music somehow, after Lou Barlow made him sick of the business. You know, they used to do The Folk Implosion together. I can very well relate to that, although I never had a hit such as "Natural One" and I never had a specific Barlow, but maybe a dozen Barlows...and of course not a single one of them as talented as the real Barlow.

The first track on this tape says "This is the first song on my new album" but it is actually misleading, as this is more of a lost album, just like Swell's "Lost Album" or countless other lost albums for that matter, but I've been listening to Swell's quite often lately - and yes, this rant includes a Swell quote, but I am sure that you already nailed it. Looking back in anger, I do feel a bit embarrassed about the rather "stream of consciousness" EngRish lyrics on some of these songs, but I still like them, and for various reasons, I had never managed to release any of the tunes on this tape in any way back in the days.

I guess the sole reason for this tape is being a nail in the boot to some. In a way it should also serve as self-criticism, you know, like them commies. If not painful, releasing this lost tape feels at least a bit weird, as it stands as a testimony from a past life in which I used to allow the wrong kind of people under my roof. The lesson is already learned, though, and these days, for the first time, it feels like I'm hanging with the kind of people who are not just leeches milking the cow, bullies, rednecks and deadweights ready to double cross you every chance they get.

Going through the old dust-covered boxes was actually more fun than expected, so a couple of rest-of / cumpilation volumes of previously released material are already in the works at the time I'm writing this. One brand new album, too. So, all in all, counting this one here, that will be four albums by The Streets At My Door. I will probably loose some money in it (again) one way or another, and I can't really afford that, so I guess it will be over and out for good after that brand new album.

Those who jump on this lost tape because of the title (or because of the side titles) will be disappointed, as I could only unearth a couple of previously unreleased half-decent tunes featuring the drummer of the best rock music band of all times. They are of course the best and least discommercial songs on the tape, though. Maybe a few more on the rest-of / cumpilation volumes. By the way, do not waste your time getting in touch about shows, as the drummer of the best rock music band of all times made me sign an exclusivity contract for his Frontignan festival (the french riviera version of ATP & Primavera) to play alongside Fugazi, who will get back together at this one and only occasion. Modest Mouse and Built To Spill are on the bill as well. That's what he told me, so I signed.

One last word to thank Armel of Gordz & RuminanCe for offering me that hi-hat which various drumming monkeys have been putting their greasy hands on over the years. More than a hundred songs were probably recorded with that hi-hat, and I had never officially thanked Armel so far. Apart from that, finger to other bands, of course, and quenelle to the scene.

I hope that you all enjoyed the cassette, thank you very much, and have a pleasant evening.
